The Challenge

St. James’s Place wanted to take advantage of emerging technologies with an on demand computing model, with reduced cost relative to a traditional server – based model. Additionally the business wanted to improve its Recovery Time Objective in the event of a disaster associated with the loss of individual applications or the entire data centre.

The Solution

Attenda has implemented a virtualised IT infrastructure, using VMware, incorporating the corporate database and several legacy applications. It has enabled St. James’s Place to split application and database server on the same physical machine and allocate resources according to demand. The solution has increased flexibility and availability with the option to move virtual servers across a pool of machines to better leverage the available resource. The solution has also ensured that the business continuity objectives can be met.
